KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 at home by No. 15 Hope College Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half where Hope outshot Kalamazoo 6-4, the Flying Dutchmen scored first in the 58th minute.
Hope scored again in the 73rd minute to go up 2-0.
Henry Plumstead scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute, but the Hornets were unable to score again in the final 16 minutes of play.
Hope outshot Kalamazoo 19-8 overall, 8-3 on goal. Hope also had a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Darius Wright III was credited with six saves in goal for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo returns to action at Calvin on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.
