Kalamazoo College's Ian Yi will compete in the 32-player NCAA III Singles Championships tournament beginning Friday, May 27 in Orlando, Fla.
First round play is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. at the USTA National Campus.
Yi opens up against Indraneel Raut from Gustavus Adolphus. Yi enters the match as the No. 9 seed in the region while Raut is currently the No. 6 seed in the region. The winner of that match will play a second round match not before 12:45 p.m. against the winner of the (7) Cameron Krimball (Trinity, TX)/Tim Cainciola (Denison) match.
Yi holds a record of 13-9 in singles this season and a 45-21 career record. He earned MIAA MVP honors and was named All-MIAA First Team. He was MIAA Player of the Week on October 4 and April 18.
Yi advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2021 singles championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., earning All-American honors in singles. He also competed in the 2019 singles championships in Kalamazoo. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID.
