On the short end of a 1-0 halftime score, the Hornets (9-3-0, 3-2-0 MIAA) scored twice in just over a minute of gameplay to claim the lead. K's Anna Murphy scored in the 58th minute off an assist from Sophia Timm-Blow, and then Emme DeConinck, assisted by Olivia Oswald's corner kick, gave the Hornets the final margin in the 59th minute.
"Trailing at halftime on the road, we were at less than our best in the first half," said Kalamazoo head coach Bryan Goyings. "The team really stepped up their play in the second half.
"Murphy was outstanding connecting passes and demonstrated superb composure on our first goal. Oswald was a consistent attacking threat on the right wing and was a difference-maker today."
Cassidy Short got the win in goal for Kalamazoo, who outpaced Olivet 10-2 in shots and 11-0 in corner kicks.
Next up the Hornets will host Trine at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for Senior Night. Kalamazoo will honor its seven seniors in a ceremony before the game.
