Women's Basketball defeated at No. 4 Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell 84-49 to Hope on Saturday afternoon. 

Kalamazoo fell behind early, but outscored the Dutch in the second quarter to pull within seven points heading into the half. Emily Kozal poured in 14 points in the opening 20 minutes to lead the Hornets. 

Hope pulled away in the third quarter as they shot 57.1 percent from the field, led by Celina King's 3-3 shooting from behind the three point line in the period. King finished the game with 17 points to lead Hope. 

For the game, Kalamazoo shot 31.3 percent from the floor compared to 43.5 percent for Hope. 

Emily Kozal led all scorers with 21 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Danielle Simon had six assists to go along with nine points and Sierra Fraser pulled down five rebounds in her first start of the season. 

The Hornets will return home to take on Saint Mary's on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m.
