Munoz nets career-high as women's basketball falls

Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Taking a quick break from MIAA play, the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team welcomed NCAC foe Oberlin College to Anderson Athletic Center Friday evening, but the Hornets were unable to pull out a victory. The Yeowomen defeated the Hornets, 67-50.

The Hornets trailed just 12-9 at the end of the first quarter but a 19-11 second quarter in favor of Oberlin allowed the Yeowomen to hold a 31-20 lead at the break.

The Hornets cut their deficit to nine points right off the bat in the third quarter courtesy of a Grace Smith make, but that's as close as the Hornets would get down the stretch despite an outstanding effort from first-year Libby Munoz off the bench.

Munoz scored a career-high 24 points and had the touch from downtown Friday evening going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Emily Kozal, Danielle Simon and Smith each ended the evening with six points apiece. Simon led the Hornets on the glass with eight rebounds.

Kalamazoo will get back into conference play on Wednesday, Feb. 1 when the Hornets travel to Alma College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
