Quinn brings nearly two decades of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels, highlighted by multiple state and conference championships, national recognition, and a long history of building successful programs, including extensive success at Forest Hills Central High School.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tony Quinn to Kalamazoo College as our next head men's lacrosse coach," said Jamie Zorbo, Director of Athletics. "Throughout his distinguished career, Tony has built and sustained championship-caliber programs, developed strong relationships, and created environments where student-athletes thrive. As a Hall of Fame coach with deep roots in the lacrosse community, he brings a wealth of experience, credibility, and passion to our program. We were impressed by his vision for the future of Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse and his commitment to providing a transformational student-athlete experience. We are confident he is the right person to build on the strong foundation of our program and lead Hornet Lacrosse to continued success on the field and in the classroom."
Most recently, Quinn served as associate head coach for the Grand Valley State University men's club lacrosse team from 2022-25, helping lead the Lakers to regular season conference championships in 2022, 2023, and 2025, including a national runner-up finish in 2025.
Prior to his time at Grand Valley State, Quinn was the head coach at Forest Hills Central from 2007-14, where he transformed a developing program into one of Michigan's premier high school lacrosse programs. After founding the school's independent lacrosse program, he led the Rangers to state championships in 2010 and 2012, and runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013. During his tenure, Forest Hills Central produced 15 All-American student-athletes and established itself among the state's top programs. His success as head coach at Forest Hills Central earned numerous honors, including Michigan Lacrosse Coach of the Year awards in 2008, 2010, and 2012, and United States Lacrosse Coach of the Year recognition for the state of Michigan in 2010 and 2012. He was also named United States Lacrosse Man of the Year for Michigan in 2011.
Quinn was inducted into the Michigan High School Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Forest Hills Central High School Hall of Fame in 2018.
After stepping aside as head coach following the 2014 season, Quinn returned to Forest Hills Central as associate head coach in 2022 and 2023, helping guide the Rangers to back-to-back state championships while coaching eight All-American student-athletes and a Bob Scott Award winner.
In addition to his high school and college club coaching experience, Quinn co-founded and served as president of HEAT Lacrosse from 2009-15 in Ada, Michigan. He oversaw the growth of the organization, managing 10 teams while coordinating coaches, camps, fundraising efforts and player development opportunities.
Quinn also brings extensive experience as an educator and school administrator. He currently serves as principal of Northview Next Alternative High School in Grand Rapids and previously spent six years as principal at West Oakview Elementary School, where he was named the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association Region 9 Principal of the Year in 2023. His educational career also includes service as an assistant principal, interim athletic director, and middle school teacher.
A native of Traverse City, Michigan, Quinn earned a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in English language and literature from Hillsdale College in 1996 before completing a master's degree in teaching and learning from Aquinas College in 1999.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program at Kalamazoo College," Quinn said at the time of his hire. "I want to thank the coaches, players, families, and especially my own family for their support throughout my career. Mr. Zorbo and the athletic department were outstanding throughout the interview process, and I am excited to join the Kalamazoo College community. I look forward to supporting the College's mission while helping our student-athletes grow and succeed both on and off the field.”
