Volleyball Splits Friday Matches at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College volleyball team split a pair of matches in the MIAA Preview Tournament at Hope College Friday.

Kalamazoo lost the opener 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19) to No. 20 Hope.

Maria Katrantzi led the Hornets with seven kills and eight digs.

Madi Goodman and Rachel Girard each had six kills.

Zoey Ammon recorded 14 assists with six digs while Maddi Wojcik had seven digs.

After losing the first set to Finlandia 25-18, Kalamazoo won the next three sets 25-16, 25-15, 25-20 to claim its first win of the season.

Madi Goodman had 17 kills in the match while hitting .520 with just four errors in 25 attempts.

Maria Katrantzi added 10 kills with 13 digs. Rachel Girard had nine kills with seven digs.

Zoey Ammon posted 27 assists and 11 digs while Maddie Wojcik led the team with 18 digs.

Kalamazoo returns to action Saturday at Hope with a 1 p.m. match against Adrian. The Hornets conclude the tournament with a 3 p.m. contest against Albion.
