KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team lost its 2019 home opener 5-4 to John Carroll University Saturday inside the Markin Center.
Kalamazoo led 2-1 after doubles. John Carroll won two of the first three singles matches to even the score at 3-3. Kalamazoo pulled ahead 4-3 with a three-set win at four singles, but John Carroll won at five singles and in three sets at six singles to take the match.
Winarski won 6-0, 6-3 at two singles while Caroline Norton won in three sets at four singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Kalamazoo is back in action with a pair of matches at home next weekend. The Hornets take on Ohio Wesleyan Saturday afternoon followed by Denison Sunday afternoon.
