Bailey named MIAA Diver of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Nicki Bailey has been honored as MIAA Diver of the Week after earning first place in both diving events at the MIAA Relays hosted by Calvin over the weekend.

The MIAA Relay format pairs up divers, with pairings often combining divers from different schools, and then asks each pair to complete two voluntary and three optional dives on both the one and three meter boards. Bailey, a freshman from Grand Rapids, placed first in both events with her partner Hope diver Brian Simonich.

Kalamazoo diving coach Kyle Oberhill said, "Nicki had a great performance in both the one meter and three meter synchro events last Friday at the MIAA relay meet. Nicki and her partner Brian had wonderful performances placing first on in each event despite only training together for less than an hour."

Bailey is being honored as MIAA Diver of the Week for the first time in her career and is the second Hornet diver to win the award this season after Madeline Woods was honored two weeks ago.

Bailey and the rest of the Kalamazoo team will compete next at home against Alma on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
