KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In just the first week of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse season, junior Rachel Madar has picked up where she left off last season as she has been named the MIAA's Offensive Player of the Week.
Madar, a junior from DeWitt, Mich. (DeWitt), began the season with one goal and one assist in the team's season opener at Ohio Northern last Wednesday. She also won nine draw controls for the Hornets.
The midfielder followed her strong performance in the opener with an even stronger one over the weekend as she tallied six goals and one assist to lead Kalamazoo to its first win of the season over Indiana Tech. During the game, Madar also collected 11 groundballs.
Madar enters her junior campaign following back-to-back seasons with more than 70 points for the Hornets. Her seven goals this week takes her school-record mark for career goals up to 146.
Madar and the Hornets look to build off their first win of the season this weekend with games at Augustana on Saturday and at Elmhurst on Sunday.
