Softball falls to Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College softball team was defeated in a pair of games at Calvin on Thursday afternoon, losing 7-2 in the first game and 14-1 in the second.

Game One

Calvin put four runs on the board in the second inning of the first contest. Andrea MacMichael drove in Alyssa Heitkamp for K's first run in the fifth, but Calvin scored a pair of the runs in the inning as well. 

MacMichael again drove in Heitkamp, who had reached base with a double, in the seventh, but the Hornets were unable to stage a late comeback.

Sammi Luzadre took the loss on the mound for K.

Game Two

Calvin's offense was hot in the second game, putting up at least two runs in every inning on their way to a five inning win. 

The Hornets scored their run in the third as Sammi Luzadre doubled to left and then scored on errors commited during each of the two following at bats. Luzadre and Izzy Kirck recorded K's two hits in the game.

Keelin McManus took the loss with Maija Weaver pitching in relief.

K will travel to Hope tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
