CLERMONT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team defeated No. 10 Wisconsin-Whitewater 3-2 in eight innings Tuesday morning and fell 11-10 in nine innings to Thomas (ME) in the afternoon.

After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, Kalamazoo scored twice in the bottom half to take the early lead. The Warhawks evened the score in the third and the score remained tied through seven innings of regulation.
Whitewater was unable to score in the top of the eighth which led to Kalamazoo's dramatic win in the bottom half. Izzy Kirck was placed on second with the tiebreak rule and advanced to third on a bunt by Anna Majewski. Hayleigh Alamo proceded to single to right to drive home Kirck in the walk-off win.
Alamo finished with two hits including a triple and two RBIs. Nina Szalkiewicz also had two hits in the game.
Keelin McManus earned the win on the mound allowing just two earned runs in eight innings.
Kalamazoo vs. Thomas
The Kalamazoo College softball team lost a heartbreaker 11-10 to Thomas (ME) in the its second game of the day Tuesday.
The Hornets led early, scoring three runs in the first two innings to lead 3-0. After Thomas scored, Keelin McManus hit a two-run homer in the top of the third to give K a 5-1 advantage.
Izzy Kirck's triple in the fourth put Kalamazoo ahead 6-2, but Thomas found its offense in the fourth and fifth to jump ahead 9-6. Briana Huisken's two RBI single in the sixth was part of a three running for K to tie the game up. After trading runs in the eighth, K stranded a runner in the ninth and Thomas walked off on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth.
The Hornets will return home to start their conference schedule on Saturday, March 31 as they take on Alma at 1 p.m.
