Men's Tennis Ranked No. 29 in Preseason Poll

The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team is ranked No. 29 in the nation in the Oracle/ITA Division III Preseason Rankings released Thursday, Jan. 16. The Hornets are also ranked No. 7 in the Central Region.

Kalamazoo finished the 2019 season in the same position (No. 29) after finishing 14-7 overall and winning the MIAA's regular season and conference tournament championships. The Hornets defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round of the NCAA III Championships before falling to Washington University (Mo.) in the third round.

The Hornets open the 2020 season Feb. 7 at Wabash followed by a match at Earlham on Feb. 8.

Kalamazoo faces a number of ranked opponents again this season including the home opener on Feb. 15 against the University of Chicago, ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the region. The Hornets host No. 11/3 Kenyon the next day, Feb. 16. In addition, the Hornets travel to No. 26/6 Denison on March 7, No. 13 Trinity (Texas) on March 23, and No. 30 Southwestern (Texas) on March 26. Trinity and Southwestern are also ranked No. 2 and No. 7 in the West region, respectively. Kalamazoo is scheduled to finish the regular season at home against Wisconsin-Whitewater, the Central Region's ninth-ranked team.
