The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team defeated Trine University 2-1 Saturday afternoon at MacKenzie Field.

Cal Kirchen got the scoring started for the Hornets in the 13th minute. The goal was Kirchen's 11th of the season, good for first in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Just five minutes later, Kirchen drew a penalty kick on the right side of the penalty area allowing Jordan Veillette to score his third goal of the season from the mark and give K a 2-0 lead.

Trine did add a goal in the 21st minute but Kalamazoo controlled the tempo of the game outshooting the Thunder 18-11.

Kalamazoo will travel to Hope on Tuesday, Oct. 20 for another MIAA match up. Game time is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
