KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced Monday afternoon that Jack Smith of the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was honored as this week's Offensive Player of the Week.
Smith, a junior from Howell, Mich. (Hartland), played an instrumental role for the Kalamazoo offense in the team's lone game of the week. The attacker tallied seven points on five goals and two assists in Kalamazoo's 16-14 win over Concordia. Four of his five goals came in the final quarter of the game as the Hornets entered the fourth quarter down by two. His two assists also game in the second half.
During each of the last two seasons, Smith has led the Hornets in assists. He was also third on the team in points last year.
Kalamazoo now begins a stretch of four straight home games on Saturday, Feb. 29 when it hosts Taylor (Ind.) at 1 p.m.
