Colleen Orwin ’17 returned to Kalamazoo College as an assistant coach in 2021-22. She served as Interim Co-Head Coach from January to May, 2025.
Orwin graduated from Kalamazoo College in 2017, majoring in computer science with a math and studio art double minor. She studied abroad in Strasbourg, France during her sophomore year.
A 2023 Kalamazoo College Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Orwin is one of the most accomplished swimmers in school history. A four-time All-American, Orwin is also one of just seven Hornet swimmers to earn All-MIAA honors all four years. In addition, Orwin is one of three women in program history to be named MIAA MVP. Orwin was an MIAA champion in seven individual events and four relay events. She set the MIAA record in the 400 IM, 200 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Fly, and was a part of the 200 Medley Relay team that set the record twice. Her best finish at the NCAA DIII Championships was eighth in the 400 Individual Medley while also finishing ninth in the 100 Fly, 16th in the 200 Fly, and 16th in the 200 Medley Relay. In addition, Orwin was a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She still holds school records in five individual events (200 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Fly, 200 IM, 400 IM) and as a member of three relay teams (200 Medley, 400 Medley, 800 Free).
Orwin graduated from Portage Northern High School, where she was a three-time state qualifier and All-State in the 100 Butterfly her senior year. Prior to returning to coach at K, Orwin was the assistant coach of the Mattawan-Hackett Girls Team during the Fall 2017 season.
