George Fishback's senior season concluded Saturday afternoon about as well as he could have imagined. Not only did Fishback and his fellow seniors end their careers with a 34-17 win over Albion at Angell Field, but the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Fishback the special teams' player of the week in a release from the league office Monday afternoon.
Fishback, a Grosse Pointe Park native, significantly influenced Albion's starting field position Saturday afternoon recording seven punts for an average of 40.4 yards. Three of his kicks pinned the Britons inside their own 20-yard-line and he recorded a 58-yarder early in the first quarter.
This is the second time in Fishback's career he was named the league's player of the week. He also received the honor in week three of 2015.
