J.P. McBride joined the staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2017 season. He primarily assists with the catchers and the infielders.
McBride graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and a minor in mathematics. He was a four-year starter for the Hornets, playing middle infield freshman year and catcher the remaining three years. He received All-MIAA recognition all four years including first team (1975) and second team (1977).
A graduate of Westland John Glenn High School, McBride helped lead the Rockets to their first regional appearance. He earned his master’s degree in industrial technology from Eastern Michigan University in 1982 and retired after nearly 40 years from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (formerly Chrysler), where he served as the Director of Manufacturing Program Management.
McBride resides in Ann Arbor, Mich. with his wife, Cindy. They have two children, Thomas and Kathleen.
