Baseball sweeps doubleheader over Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team swept a doubleheader over Hope at Woodworth Field on Tuesday. Kalamazoo won 7-6 on a walk-off single in the first game before winning the series finale 17-10. With the doubleheader sweep on Tuesday Kalamazoo claimed the series by winning three out of four over the Flying Dutchmen.

Game One

Kalamazoo led 4-0 after two innings, but Hope tied the score with four runs in the fourth. Hope pulled ahead with a run in the fifth, and led again by one after the top of the seventh. Kalamazoo loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh before Zach Prystash singled home a pair of runs to win the game.

Prystash and Jordan Wiley each had two hits in the game. Wiley also stole three bases and scored twice.

Game Two

Hope scored twice in the second to take an early lead, but Kalamazoo responded with three in the bottom half of the inning. Kalamazoo led 4-3 going into the bottom of the fifth where the Hornets scored six runs to take a 10-3 lead. Kalamazoo added three in the sixth and four in the seventh to take a 17-3 lead. Hope added a run in the eighth and scored six runs with two outs in the ninth to make the final 17-10.

Zach Prystash was 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Josh Reuter went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and five runs scored. 

Jordan Wiley, Alex Fultz and Andre gard each had two hits in the game.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to return to action Saturday, April 14 at Albion.
