Kalamazoo College's Zach Metz '25 has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Tom Renner Associate SID Award. The award, named in honor of Tom Renner—MIAA publicist from 1967 to 2008—is presented to a student assistant in a sports information office at an MIAA member college for outstanding service as an undergraduate. Metz is Kalamazoo College's first Renner Award recipient.
Metz, a business major and four-year football player at Kalamazoo, has played an integral role in the Hornets' sports information and athletic communication efforts throughout his undergraduate career. As lead broadcaster for the past three years, Metz delivered high-quality livestream coverage across nearly every sport offered by Kalamazoo, earning praise from parents and fans alike for his preparation, knowledge, and on-air professionalism. Known for his dedication, he often moved straight from football practice to broadcasting duties with little time to spare.
Beyond broadcasting, Metz contributed behind the scenes with gameday graphics, historical record updates, and student-athlete bios on the department's website. He also helped grow the program by mentoring new student assistants. Metz will begin his football coaching career this fall as a graduate assistant at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana.
