KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Wet weather could not put a damper on the festivities on Sunday afternoon as the Kalamazoo College Athletic Leadership Council hosted its annual Special Olympics track meet with Area 16 Special Olympics.

Over 100 Special Olympics athletes came out to Parchment High School's track to compete in a variety of track and field events as well as bocce ball competitions. Student athletes and coaches from five different Hornet teams helped to ensure the event ran smoothly, recording times and differences from events and organizing awards for the participants.

NCAA Division III has a nationwide partnership with Special Olympics, and Kalamazoo's Athletic Leadership Council has consistently partnered closely with Area 16 to host events in for a number of sports, including track, basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
