Kalamazoo College Volleyball Camps
Position Day Camp: June 29-July 2, 2020 (Grades 8th-12th Fall 2020)
Kalamazoo College Volleyball invites you to join us for a Hornet Position Volleyball Day Camp during the summer of 2020 (June 29-July2). This camp is designed to focus on position-specific skills. This camp will provide high repetition drills that focus on proper technique, consistency, and tactical awareness. Athletes are welcome to attend any and all position sessions. The camp fee includes all coaching sessions, drills, experienced staff, and a camp T-shirt.
Attacking/Blocking Session (9-11:30 a.m.): During this session, the athlete will learn the proper approaches for attacking front row or back row and proper arm swing mechanics. With the use of these skills, the athlete will have a better understanding of various ways to score with the use of swinging cross court, the line shot, tipping to various locations on the court, hitting off-speed shots, and tooling the block. Along with hitting, the athlete will learn proper blocking mechanics. In the blocking segment, the athlete will learn the proper starting position at the net, various footwork patterns, shoulder, arm, and hand positioning to become a more efficient and effective blocker.
Setting Session (Noon-2:30 p.m.): During this session, the athlete will learn the proper footwork patterns needed for setting, how to be offensive as a setter, and proper hand placement on the ball that will allow them to execute side setting, back setting, jump setting forward, jump setting back, and lastly spin setting. By learning all of these skills this will allow the athlete to set to various locations on the court.
Serve/Pass Session (2:45-4 p.m.): During this session, the athlete will learn all the necessary tools needed for both forearm and overhead passing. Proper footwork, movement and body positioning will be covered. There will be a variety of drills during this session that will help improve the athletes serve receive and defense. In addition to passing the athlete will learn/review the fundamentals of overhand serving by working on body positioning, consistent tossing, and the various contact points on the ball. For the more advanced server this session will provide instructions on the various jump serves, and or topspin serve. All servers will learn/review the zones and how to serve to those zones.
Cost: $160 for 1 skill session. $200 for more than 1 skill session.
High School Day Camp: July 20-July 23, 2020 (9th-12th Grade Fall 2020) *7/8th grade athletes with club volleyball experience are welcome to attend
Kalamazoo College Volleyball invites you to join us for a High School Volleyball Day Camp during the summer of 2020 (July 20th-23rd). This camp is designed to provide drills, technical instruction on all the skills of volleyball and help prepare athletes for their high school try-outs. Athletes will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite Hornet volleyball players and improve their volleyball skills. The camp includes all coaching sessions, drills, games, experienced staff, tournament play, and a camp T-shirt. *Athletes should bring a lunch or snacks to eat between sessions
Morning Session: 9 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 1:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
All Skills Day Camp: July 27-July 30, 2020
Kalamazoo College Volleyball invites you to join us for a Hornet Volleyball Day Camp during the summer of 2020 (July 27-30). This camp is designed to teach the fundamental skills of volleyball as well as introduce the fun that is associated with the sport. Campers will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite Hornet volleyball players and improve their volleyball skills. The camp fee includes all coaching sessions, drills, games, experienced staff, tournament play, and a camp T-shirt.
Morning Session (Grades 5-6th, Fall 2020)
9 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Afternoon Session (Grades 7-8th, Fall 2020)
1 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
