Kalamazoo women's tennis sophomore Sarah Woods has been named an NCAA III Women's Tennis All-American for the second consecutive season.
Woods finished her sophomore campaign with a 19-5 singles record at first singles and a 16-9 record playing first doubles. Woods was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.
Woods, ranked No. 1 in the Central Region by itatennis.com for a portion of the season, qualified for the NCAA III Women's Tennis Individual Championships but fell in the opening round to Kara Shoemaker of Williams (Mass.).
As a team, Kalamazoo finished 15-5 winning its first outright MIAA title since 1995. The Hornets advanced to the MIAA Tournament final for the second consecutive year.
"Sarah had another excellent season," Kalamazoo Head Coach Mark Murphy said. "She is the third female at Kalamazoo to earn All-American honors her first two years."
