GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team looked to extend its winning streak to 11 straight games Saturday afternoon on the campus of Calvin College, but the Knights had other plans. Calvin defeated the Hornets, 2-0.
The Knights struck midway through the first half on a goal from Emily VanVeldhuisen. They tacked on an insurance goal in the 85th minute courtesy of Brianna Russell.
Statistically, the game remained quite balanced throughout which Calvin outshooting Kalamazoo just 14-10. Libby Munoz led the Hornets with three shots.
With the loss, Kalamazoo still stands atop the MIAA table. The Hornets will head back home for a meeting with Alma College on Oct. 18.
