KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After going undefeated in league play on the way to an outright MIAA championship, the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team capped off its season by placing four players on the All-MIAA teams today. Tytus Metzler, who was also named MIAA Most Valuable Player, Elan Dantus, and Daniel Henry were named to the First Team and Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado made the Second Team.
Metzler, a freshman from Rockford, Ill., played one singles and doubles in MIAA play this season, going 7-0 in singles, winning every match in straight sets, and 6-1 in doubles. He finished 17-4 overall in singles play and rose to a regional ranking of No. 21 by the end of the season. He is now the 45th MIAA MVP in program history.
Metzler was named MIAA Player of the Week twice in his outstanding first year of college tennis.
Henry, a sophomore from Kalamazoo, makes the All-MIAA First Team for the second year in a row. He won every MIAA singles match in straight sets at two this year and paired with Metzler at one doubles. He is undefeated in MIAA singles play in his career and finished the season as the 23rd ranked player in the region.
A senior captain from Okemos, Dantus wraps up his Kalamazoo career undefeated in both MIAA singles and doubles play over his four years. This season he played primarily three singles and doubles and winning each MIAA singles match in straight sets. This is Dantus' third straight appearance on the All-MIAA First Team, making him the 20th Hornet to achieve that feat.
DelOlmo-Parrado, who was named to the Second Team, is being honored as All-MIAA for the first time. The junior from Valladolid, Spain played four and five singles and two doubles throughout the season. Like his teammates, he won every MIAA singles match in straight sets and was also undefeated in doubles.
