KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second time this season, Kalamazoo College men's tennis player Daniel Henry was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association player of the week in a release from the league office Monday afternoon.
Henry, a Kalamazoo native, helped lead the Hornets to a 2-0 week over MIAA foes Hope and Calvin and improve to 13-1 overall on the season.
In the match against Hope, Henry and his doubles partner Allen Vinson took three doubles 8-5, and Henry took care of his two singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Saturday against Calvin it was Henry and Vinson again who took care of three doubles, this time winning 8-4. Henry slotted into the top singles spot of the lineup against the Knights and won with ease, 6-0, 6-1.
Henry is now 17-4 in singles in his first season as a Hornet with a perfect 5-0 record in conference. He's a combined 14-5 in doubles matches.
Henry and the Hornets will continue their chase for a 79th straight MIAA championship this Wednesday when they host Adrian at Stowe Stadium.
