Mission Statement
Kalamazoo College Men’s Basketball is a highly
competitive NCAA Division III program with a championship-level
commitment to Academics, Basketball, and Community Responsibility
& Service (the A, B, C’s of Hornet Basketball), striving
to provide our student-athletes with the best possible collegiate
basketball experience, while helping to shape and direct them in
positive preparation for life beyond Kalamazoo College as graduates
ready to provide “enlightened leadership to a richly diverse
and complex world.”

The Recruiting Process
The Kalamazoo College men’s Basketball coaching
staff is committed to recruiting high character student-athletes
that excel both in the classroom and on the court. We strive
to recruit the best possible player that meets the profile of
Kalamazoo College, and will recruit extensively to maintain our
high academic and athletic standards.
1. Let us know you are interested
- Please complete the Online Recruit Questionnaire. This will provide us your contact information, which will allow us to send you information on K College and Hornet Basketball.
2. Send us game film/highlight films

3. Apply to Kalamazoo College
- Admission to Kalamazoo College is highly selective
- Applications received prior to November 20 will know their admission status and Merit-based Scholarship on December 20. All other applicants will know their status by April 1.
4. Schedule a Campus Visit with our admissions office
- Be sure to let them know you would like to meet with Coach Dougal!
- Overnight visits can be arranged so that you are able to spend the night on campus with a Hornet player. This is a great chance to get to know the guys on the team and experience life on campus.
5. Attend our summer camp
- The Hornet Basketball Advanced Camp gives you the opportunity to show the coaching staff your skills in a competitive environment while learning the skills and work ethic necessary to become a member of the Men’s Basketball Team.
Open Tryouts
Players who have not been evaluated as to have earned a
spot on the upcoming year’s team will have an opportunity to
try-out during the first week of our competitive season. We
encourage everyone with an interest to try-out, but as this is a
highly competitive NCAA Division III program and cuts will be made
at the end of the try-out period.
