GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell on the road to Calvin College Saturday afternoon in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Knights defeated the Hornets, 64-56.

After Kalamazoo jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the early going, Calvin took its first lead with 12:34 to play in the first half and built a 10-point gap courtesy of a 14-2 run ending at the 8:00 mark.

The Knights extended their lead to as large as 17 in the first half but Kalamazoo cut its deficit to 15 as the group trailed 39-24 at the halftime intermission.

An 8-0 run in the first 1:07 of the second half from Calvin pushed the Knights' lead to 23, but despite the steep deficit the Hornets grinded their way back into the contest. A 16-3 run from Kalamazoo over the next six minutes put K in striking distance down the stretch.

Kalamazoo whittled Calvin's lead down to six points with 1:52 to go, but that's as close as the Hornets would get to regaining the lead and heading home with a road victory.

Jimmy Paprocki provided a strong offensive performance on the block for Kalamazoo scoring 15 points while bringing in four rebounds. Chase Baysdell added nine points, nine rebounds and four assists.

The Hornets hit the road one more time this season when they travel to Hope College on Wednesday, Feb. 15 for an 8 p.m. contest.
