Joe Prepolec named to Academic-Athletic Honor Team
Kalamazoo College's Joe Prepolec was selected to the 2012 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan's (BCAM) College Academic-Athletic Honor Team. Prepolec, a 6'6" senior forward from Bloomfield Hills (Andover HS), maintains a 3.62 GPA as a math and business major.
Prepolec was a three-time All-MIAA selection who finished his career as Kalamazoo's all-time leader in blocked shots. His 1,305 career points ranks eighth in school history and he is just the third player to score 1,300 points and pull down 600 rebounds. Prepolec was named to four All-Tournament teams during his career, and led the Hornets in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg) and blocked shots (40) during his senior season.
Prepolec is joined on this year's Michigan Men's College Academic-Athletic Honor Team by Zach Novak (Michigan), Mike Hojnacki (Michigan Tech), Thomas Erickson (Alma) and David Krombeen (Hope). To be eligible for the honor team, players must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.0 GPA. BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and grade point average.
